We're heading into the middle of September, and this week we've got an exciting lineup of events that offer something for everyone, from a storytime about a cute puppy to celebrating grandparents to rocking the Constitution! Whether you're looking for ways to learn, connect, or have a bit of fun, these five free activities and events should be on your radar this week:
1. Join a Puppy Named Lisa On an Airplane Trip
Travel on a pup's airplane journey during a free virtual storytelling adventure with the Smithsonian Museum! Follow along during a reading of Lisa’s Airplane Trip by Anne Gutman. Lisa, a French dog, travels by herself to New York for the first time and has adventures along the way. Sept. 8

2. Celebrate National Grandparents Day
Grandparents are special. If your children's grandparents are local, spend time showing them just how important they truly are to your family. If they aren't local, plan ahead and send a handmade card and a hug: Simply tape together a few pieces of newspaper or use the white side of wrapping paper and outline your child with their arms outstretched. 3. Learn About the Power of Good Deeds With Jenna Bush Hager
Join a free and virtual special conversation about the power of doing good for one another, led by Jenna Bush Hager. She will share how 9/11 became a National Day of Service and how students can make a difference by performing their own good deeds in honor of the day. Sept. 11
4. Rock the Constitution
Have some fun while learning about the history of the constitution with the National Archives Museum. In this 30-minute free and virtual program, students will explore the idea of different responsibilities in their community and analyze images that highlight the jobs of the three branches of government as outlined in the Constitution. Sept. 13
5. Explore the Fantastic World of Reptiles
Join a National Geographic herpetologist to learn about the fantastic world of reptiles and how they adapt to the changing world around us. National Geographic Explorer Ru Somaweera will discuss the reptiles he studies, from sea snakes in the Indian Ocean to horned lizards in the mountains of Sri Lanka. Sept. 14
